You have to write the essay that has a thesis that identifies change over time for each country and time period required. To have a good change-over-time essay you must talk about the events leading up to the change, and why things changed. You have to cover the historical development in your essay. If you do not know the subject very well most of change-over-time essays will give you choices. Most of the issues will be about global issues such as technology, trade, demographic change, and culture. Be ready to discuss any of these subjects in the essay. The basic core of the essay places a very heavy emphasis on answering every part of the question. When you have pulled apart the question you then begin to build the framework of the essay. As in the DBQ the thesis is a critical part of the essay, and it must be supported by facts. As you progress through your essay you must address each portion of the question in turn. Remember the sooner that the person who is grading your essay finds your examples for the topic the sooner you get points.
