National Geographic

I believe that Jared Diamond is right in saying that it is the geographical spot and the plants that are grown there that hinders the New Guineans. The plants that New Guineans have do not last very long and rot more quickly than other foods so they can not store it for a long period of time. The plants that they grow need to be done with one separate seed and need to be grown individually instead of like wheat and barley when you can just throw the seeds over the ground and they rise out of the ground in a couple of weeks fully grown. The New Guineans could not mass produce their food which if they could they would have to make machines to make the food, but they could not since they were not that far up the industrial ladder. They were also not on any major trade routes with the rest of the world so they could not trade food or technology with countries like China or Japan who were very far up the industry ladder compared to New Guinea. That is why i believe Jared Diamond is right.

Ap History pgs 7-16
Humans have existed for less than 5 percent of the time other mammals have lived.
Humans have many drawbacks; we are aggressive against our own kind.
We can grip objects unlike other mammals because of opposable thumbs.
Human’s history starts in the Stone Age that lasted 2 million years.
100,000 years ago there were 1.5 million people called Homo erectus in the world
We are all descendents of Homo sapiens sapiens, who were in Africa.
People slowly began to settle down instead of following the food.
People began to develop cultures and different languages for themselves.
Around 750,000 people from Africa started moving north and got to the America’s by 8000 B.C.E.
Neolithic people marked the end of the Stone Age throughout much of the world.
With agriculture, people settled down and there millions that did that.
People had to think of new ways to get their food because animals were leaving where they lived
In the East agriculture boomed since there were not many animals in the desert that was almost their almost only food supply.
Agriculture could make it so more people could be feed.
Asia was cold so they had animals instead of having agriculture as there main food supply.
Japan did not know of this so they were isolated for a long time from the rest of the world
Agriculture encouraged different types of science and the potter’s wheel.
By 3000 B.C.E metal was used in most everything from a hoe to metal working in general.
Neolithic settlements spread from Africa to Europe.
Some of the cities that grew began to have Kings that ruled them.
The three great civilizations had been created by 2500 B.C.E.
Writing was invented by 3500 B.C.E, in the Middle East.
Nomadic people could not make civilizations because they did not have the supplies for it.
In Nomadic societies there was much inequality between men and women.
The first real human civilization happened to be created in the Middle Eastern country of the world
